These potatoes were waiting on the counter to be cut and sauteed. I loved how there was an reddish glow on the underside of the potatoes. I was able to capture that I believe.

Relics
$80.00
I named this "relics" because I rarely ever use these items anymore. *LOL* The only time is if I loose a button. I used to sew all the time, but I have relagated these items to the bottom of the junk drawer.

From the Train #5 (Illinois...final painting in series)
acrylic on masonite board
$80.00
West Central Illinois is mainly farmland...and corn corn corn corn everywhere! *LOL* so...this painting is my perception of "most" of Illinois. Huge farms with neat outbuildings and rows of corn is very appealing. The corn is starting to die out at the bottoms and tassled out on the top. Each stalk has many ears of corn. Right now is a good time to have sweet corn. Yum! This was the last of my Amtrak train series...where I traveled from Chicago, IL to Oklahoma City, OK .....and back. I went through five states. I hope you enjoyed this trip through my paintings. I would be interested in any comments you would like to leave on this series. I will be back to my daily paintings tomorrow. I will be working in oils for a while.

From The Train #4 (St Louis Missouri)
acrylic on masonite board
$80.00
This was painted on the way to Oklahoma from Chicago. The sunset was a brilliant orange red yellow mix. The Mississippi reflected the sky and looked like molten lava. The city was just starting to show behind the green trees. We were elevated a little higher than the main road so we had a great view of the river. And the arch was standing guard over the state. This is the fourth painting from my Amtrak train series.

From the Train #3 (Ozarks Arkansas)
acrylic on masonite board
This is #3 from my Amtrak train series. I recently took a trip to OKC from Chicago and back. We were sitting on a side track waiting for a freight train to come through. It was about 3:00AM somewhere in Arkansas....I believe it was close to Walnut Grove. The moon coming through the mist was so dreamlike. The mist was coming up from the valley floor in thick wisps of cloud. If anyone has ever taken a train trip you know that you do not get a lot of sleep onboard. I had my travel painting set with me and since I had a roomette I could take advantage of the layover and paint this scene. I may try to write a book about my Amtrak travels. I have a LOT of stories to tell. *LOL*

From the Train #2.....Somewhere in Texas
acrylic on masonite board
This is #2 painting from my Amtrak train series. I recently took a trip to OKC from Chicago and back. We had a 2 hour delay on the tracks between Ft Worth and Dallas, Texas. The clouds were billowing in a fantastic way and since I had a roomette where I could spread my stuff out...I took advantage of the stop to paint this scene. I did most of it with my palette knife. (the same knife I used as a painting subject on this blog). I did not mind the delay as much as others did because I was not in a huge hurry and I had my paints with me! Now...if I did not have my paints with me it could have gotten pretty tense. *LOL*

From the train #1 (Oklahoma)
acrylic on masonite board
$80.00
This is the first of my "Amtrak Series" of a recent trip from Chicago to OKC and back. This is a typical scene in Oklahoma. The clouds were puffing up beautifully! The clouds and sun were playing peek a boo with the landscape. Some areas were in shade while others were highlighted by the sun. Spectacular and breathtaking scenery.

Bolt Upright
acrylic on masonite
$80.00
My husband has been "helping" me find subjects to paint. Since I took such an interest in his awl and tape measure he has been looking through his toolbox. *LOL* He thought I might want to paint these bolts...because they were new and shiny.
